I have taken liberties with Rowen/Touma's battle experiences. Just so you know.
Visions of Violet Eyes
A YST/RW fanfiction by Ami-chan
It's one of those things you get used to, I guess, a fact of life; the sun rises in the east, water is wet, and you never, ever, see more than one of Sage's eyes at a time. That silky fall of hair is always over his right eye, unless he's in full armor, and then none of us are usually in a position or mindset to take a good look.
Especially me. I'm always the farthest away from the actual battle, firing arrow after arrow in the fray. Having a greatbow doesn't make for good hand-to-hand combat situations, and in armor I can't fight very well without a weapon. Let's face it, out of all of us I'd be the most helpless if I was ever caught off-guard without proper means of defending myself. Me, or maybe Sai. But Sai benefits from having some one-on-one combat experience, while I barely have any. So I'm always there, perched in a tree or something, sending bolt after golden bolt into the dark spirits of the Dynasty. Much like he does, with all light as his element.
But even with all that distance, I can still see that glittering point of amethyst, sparkling in the midst of the flashing steel and metal. In battle, it's always so cold, so hard, shards of lavender ice. Never soft, never trusting and open.
At least not when I see it.
Have you ever had an impossible dream? Something that lies just beyond your reach? I used to wonder about the moon, a heavy, pale-lidded eye watching the shadows. I used to stretch out towards it, to press my fingertips against the cold glass of my bedroom window, yearning to touch, afraid to do so. I cursed the distance that separated us but at the same time be glad for it. Visions of that shimmery orb danced in from of me at all hours of the night, and I'd mourn when the clouds covered its gentle, milky radiance.
Lately, the eye has been violet.
